Our Mission
GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH OF MILLERSVILLE EXISTS TO CULTIVATE FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST.
Grace Baptist Church of Millersville is a congregation of over 200 followers of Christ located in Millersville, Pennsylvania. We seek to glorify God by cultivating followers of Jesus Christ. As a congregation, we value biblical teaching, multigenerational worship, and grace-saturated community. Our ministries seek to show how the gospel transforms all of life. We gather together to encourage one another as followers of Christ.
Who We Are
Grace was planted in 1974 by Grace Baptist Church of Lancaster, who bought the land and the building from another congregation. Herb Samworth, a missionary who had recently returned to the States from Peru, became the church’s first pastor. Herb served until 1997. Bob Smith, a retired pastor living in Willow Street, guided the congregation through a challenging interim period.
The congregation called Joel DeVinney as pastor in 1999. Under his leadership, the congregation began a growing AWANA program, launched a small group ministry, moved to a blended worship style, transitioned to elder-led congregationalism, purchased additional property near the church to provide for future growth, and has continued its commitment to biblical exposition. The congregation has been committed to global missions since its inception. Several former members of Grace serve overseas as full-time Outreach Partners.
At the heart of what we believe and do is the good news that God invites all people, separated from Him because of our sin, to be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. Two Ways to Live explains more of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.
